Great Chain Gang!

02 September, 2010 20:22

I thought tonight's chain gang was superb.
It was well organised , paced really well and we averaged just under 25mph! A great workout.

good "B" group chaingang too. eight of us averaging 18 mph. Anybody not tried chain gang yet and want a gentle introduction come and try the B group next week

Thanks for giving me a brief experience of riding at high speed. Apologies for disrupting your tempo as I failed to keep up past Rowsley. I need to find a middle group Chaingang that does about 20 to 22 mph I reckon. I was ok on the flat, but as soon as there was an uphill, I just couldn't accelerate to the front at that pace.
Thanks for allowing me to try.

PS It was me that was following Lee S this morning on his cycle to work through Wessington (in case he was wondering who shouted good morning to him) - I couldn't even get past him in the car!......

Martin - stick with the faster group. Next week don't do any turns on the front, sit on the back and aim for Bakewell!

Sorry Martin, world of my own this morning, didn't realise it was you.
I'd agree with Steve, try the faster group again but sit on the back and get further and further round each week.

Thanks for all your encouragement. I really appreciate it. I really do want to test myself on the hard training. As I know from my running 'career' - the only way to improve race times is speedwork and moving out of the comfort zone and it's so much harder to do that on your own. So long as you guys can put up with me hanging on at the back I'll try my hardest to keep with you. I'll get my best bike out for next week, Though as Lance A said "It's not about the bike".

I have to say, I got a real buzz flying along at a speed that seemed inconceivable on my own. Albeit briefly.

Cheers

I'll be joining you Martin - I am trying to get fitter again so I will be joining the fast one for as long as I can hold on - might only be a few miles at first. Family commitments ruled me out last night but all being well should be out next Thursday.

Thanks for last night.

B Group????

Quality not quantity!

A great intro to the chaingang. Looking at timetables we might just make Thursdays as a few things have moved at school now, yiphee.

Paul and Gregg.

Hoping to make next Thursday and see if I can stay with the B group.
