Chain Gang THURSDAY 7.00
Chain Gang
Thursday
7.00
Everone welcome, first couple taken steady to get everone back in to the swing of it and all the new comers to get use to riding in a pack at a higher than normally pace.
Two groups (depending on how many turn up).
I'd agree, two groups if enough turn up.
For the faster group, as Carl said, very steady to get used to it. To Bakewell. Then faster through the 'hills' - those that can't stay close can turn round and wait at Bakewell, or start heading back. Any splits regroup at Bakewell (unless more than a minute or so), then faster back, maybe rotating clockwise. That way people can do as much front work as they wish, or none!
Two groups.
Second group five past seven for those who are not used to chain gang or are not up to the pace of the first group.
I'm quite happy to ride with the second group.
Roadworks
This week should be ok but next week and possibly following week A6 closed Rowsley to Picory corner.
Alternative route?
Hi,
I can't make this first one but will hopefully be there the following week but in the meantime, as someone who doesn't know the route, could I ask if someone could give me info regarding the route please?
In particular the details regarding routes to meet back up with the group if dropped?
Thanks
Richard,
Myself and Gregg will try for the slower group on Thursday if you think we will be ok.
Paul.
ps brake bosses worked a treat thank you.
Hello Paul, as Carl said "all welcome" see you thursday. Good news about the bosses.
Neil, the route is north on the A6 out of Matlock all the way to Bakewell. Right turn at the roundabout in Bakewell on the Baslow road, up the hill and left turn on the B6001 to the Hassop roundabout. Left down to Ashford in the water and then left again on the A6 back to Bakewell and back to Matlock. Back to the clubroom for tea for those who feel like it.
Thanks very much Richard. Great directions, but one final question (sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere)
Where is the actual meeting point?
Hello Neil
good point.............meeting place is Crown Square (the roundabout in the middle of Matlock)
we meet at the end of the park on the wide section of pavement next to the roundabout.
See you there
Alternative route during roadworks - down to Ambergate, up to the A38 island and back? It's been touted as a possible route before and is flat enough so that it should stay together.
Alternatively, up to Rowsley, through Chatsworth and turn at Baslow island. Obviously hillier but could be allowed to regroup either side
Chatsworth route sounds good? Have to watch for the sheep though!
