jezz which are the ones you wanted to enter autumn in the peaks etc cheers martyn
I'm interested in the Quorndon Derby China Tea Pot. Never done an Audax though and don't know what's involved. I managed the National Cyclosportive 150K at Pendle a couple of weeks ago, so I think I should be able to get round steadily. I had a look on the Audax Uk website and noticed that this event is listed as 208K? As an MCC member what else do I have to do to take part (apart from pay the organiser?) I'd be happy to go at any pace.
Martin
if you are martin the runner then im the other martyn who has ridden and spoke to you on the tuesday evening ride im the person who did london to paris etc ,all you need to do is pay your entry and away you go audaxes are very informal events and quite enjoyable ive done this ride 3yrs running now its a good route with a few tastey climbs
Hi Martyn
That's me - the Lanterne Rouge of the Tuesday evening rides.
Might need a few more tips en-route. I have that weekend free ATM with no childcare issues or fell-races, so it fits. It's listed as 208K? How long (roughly) to complete? I got around the Pendle 150K route (3500m climb) in just under 7 hours. Do people ride in groups (hope so cos' I'll get lost otherwise)? Do you have to be self-sufficient? What time start?
More questions than answers...........
Thanks
Martin

I've answered one of my questions by reading the Audax calendar properly. There are two 'China' events from Quarndon - The China Run and The China teapot. 208K and 120K respectively. 120K sounds more sensible ATM.
Cheers
120k fine by me about 4hrs 30 if all goes ok or slower if need be yes ride as a group have to be self supported ie tubes pump etc
Thanks Martyn
I'll print out the details and send my entry in. In resepct of entry fee, I'm MCC member and BC bronze level, but not member of Audax. Does this mean that I have to pay the £2 premium for insurance cover? Not that it's a big issue.
Cheers
Martin

Hi,
I'm thinking of doing the China Tea Pot on the 31st, are there any other Matlock riders doing this evevnt?
Is it possible to enter on the day? I'm a BC member if that helps.
Cheers, Jim
ring john mitchelmore on 07900 568 271and all being well theres a few of us from matlock doing this ride cheers martyn
To answer some of the points raised :-
most people prefer to ride in groups but you should also be prepared to follow the route sheet in case you get separated.
A small map holder mounted on the handlebars is useful but you can always just wrap it around your arm with some lacky bands.
It is best to enter about 2 weeks before the event but most organisers accept EOL although you may have to pay a small premium for this.
If you want to enter on the day, contact the organiser by phone or e-mail first to make sure the event is not full and allow some extra time at the start for filling in the forms etc.
You could also contact some of the experienced Matlock audax riders like Kevin Firth and John Owens although he is probably still asleep after just finishing (hopefully) a 1000km ride this weekend.

Thank you for the info!!
I will get in touch with the organiser, and hopefully see a few of you on satuday.
Cheers.
