Delivery time on clothing
Has anyone got an idea what lead time on Clothes are from Impsport?
Thinking of ordering new skinsuit.
I ordered some stuff earlier this week. Their site says "up to" 28 days. I'll let you know when it arrives.
Took 2 months for mine to come through............
Cripes! Two months? That's not good :(
And I had to chase them up after 28 days otherwise it might have been longer.......
Yes, had to chase mine as well. Took just under 2 months from order to delivery (August/September)
Actually got an e-mail the day after they were delivered saying they would arrive later that week.
I have had stuff arrive within 2 to 3 weeks before and haven't had to wait longer than 28 days on the 3 orders I have placed in the last 12 months.
My order placed on 22nd February arrived today, so that's about three weeks.
they take ages! I think it does depend when you order though, because just about everybody thinks about getting new kit for around this time of year so they say that they're really busy when you chase them up. I'd waited a good two months for a top to come through and was getting quite annoyed, but in fairness to them when i rang up and said i had a race that weekend they had it sent out for the next day!
It took just over 2 weeks for mine, but maybe I got lucky and placed my order towards the end of a batch rather than at the start.
Placed my order 2 weeks ago today and they have just come through the door10 mins ago
I think they wait till there quite few orders in its more cost effective to set up for a large run on a certain clubs kit.
Has anyone been onto the Imsport website recently? I've been trying today but it seems to have changed and I cannot access club kit.
Just wondering if it's just my computer!
Impsport are changing their whole website and are slowly loading the new content.
At the same time they're altering their prices to better reflect what they call 'the costs of the on-demand ordering system'.
I suppose we'll find out what that means in a few days!
Went to the Impsport site to order another set of kit but the Matlock 'your club' section seems to be empty?
See above - they're still doing it.
I'll check again in a couple of days.
That's interesting 'Matlock CC - Blue' are listed on the Impsport website as one of the 'open' clubs, i.e. anyone can order their kit.

Not that there is anything there to order yet!
The club kit is now available from the Impsport website.
They've split it into two sections - Orange and Blue. The current pass code gives access to the 'Orange' section.
To access the 'Blue' section replace the last digit of the current pass code with the number 7.
Ouch!
I checked some of the prices and it looks like everything has gone up by about 40-50%.
For example: Bibshorts from £41.40 to £58.00!
The club committee have been aware of the impending price rises (but not the scale of them) for a while, and have been looking into what can be done about them.
Now we've got the figures we've got something to work from.
I'm wondering if a bulk order could be a way to go but I know that takes a lot of organising (of people/sizes/numbers etc) from my experience in orienteering.
Do you think Impsport are actively discouraging individual orders?
I only get a certain amount of 'spends' allowed by the family chief accountant :o) and I'm guessing a lot of others are in the same boat.
The prices are now high enough for me personally not to buy and invest in stuff I need to keep my bikes running and/or upgrades.
Mike, I think the answer to both your points is 'yes'.
In my opinion Impsport have realised that the on-demand ordering system just doesn't pay for itself. That's why the delivery times have been variable, as they've been batching individual orders together to make a worthwhile run.
The website ordering is convenient, and as you say, cuts down on a lot of organising for someone.
If it is necessary to do a bulk order to get reasonable prices again, the question then arises - Do we stick with Impsport? There are loads of companies out there at various different price/quality points offering what we need.
Do we go for better quality at the same price as Impsport, mid-level pricing and mid-level quality, or cheap and cheerful?
We have a kit design that most people like, so changing suppliers is not too big a task.
All opinions welcome!
You pay your money and make your choice, as with everything. To be honest the prices were cheap to start with and the quality acceptable for the price. Other clubs paid more than we previously did and you can't really buy a great deal in the open market for the prices Impsport are now charging for club “type” clothing.
Money is always a difficult area to broach as everyone has different circumstances, but I think we’d be well pushed to try and improve things with other suppliers based on my previous experience -not that we shouldn't look. With regard to delivery times, they can prove to be a pain if you haven’t pre planned, but we all have the choice to order kit in November in preparation for the New Year.
My choice and advice on club kit is to buy a short sleeved jersey, you can use this for the majority of the year combined with arm warmers combined with various bib shorts etc. And buy a skin suit for racing. For about £100 you have all you need from Impsport in the way of club clothing required and free to buy what and where you want!
I'd agree with you about Impsport previously - it was pretty cheap and the quality acceptable.
Personally I'd expect better quality for the prices they're now charging.
To bring a few numbers into this, Impsport now want £50.58 for a short-sleeved jersey with full zip.
Spiuk, Giordana, and Bioracer are all quoting around £38 for the same, and I'd class all those three as of being better quality.
Similar for bibshorts, £58 at Impsport, £44, £50, and £52 respectively for the other three.
That's just a snapshot of some of the suppliers looked at, it's not the full picture but should give some idea as to the alternatives.
Well I've placed another order so if they really are "batching them up" now is a good time for someone else to place an order too.
Lee,
At the Midland XC yesterday I was talking to one of the guys from Champion System, the kit looked very good, worth a look for comparison. www.champ-sys.co.uk
They do junior sizes as well as adults.

The order I placed on 16th April arrived today. Two weeks? Not too bad.
I think that's part of the deal with the price increase - the margins are big enough with the on-demand now that they can do them whenever they come in.
I have to agree with Lee regarding comparable manufacturers.
I have some Dinnington RC club kit following a charity tour across france with some of their members and it is made by Giordana. The quality is excellent. Really good.
If they produce at cheaper cost than Impsport i wouldn't hesitate to use their kit.
