Firstly, hello!
I have recently moved to Derby for 8 months as part of my university course. In the last semester I finally got round to joining the university club, and got very used to being to slowest out on the trails!
I was wondering if you could provide me with more information regarding this side of the cycling club, such as how technical are the trails you ride, and what is the usual pace!
I would not call myself superfit, and definitely not super skilled, but I would like to learn more and get faster. The best way I see of doing so is to ride more!
Thanks.
Peter
Hi Peter,
The Saturday Morning ride is a general sort of 'mixed ability' affair with occasional stops at the top of climbs and/or the bottom of descents to allow a re-group. Rides are between two and three hours covering between 20 and 30 km of hilly but not overly technical terrain.
The Monday night ride is faster with fewer stops.
The best thing to do is come along and have a go. It is not unusual for people to abandon early due to (lack of) fitness, a mechanical failure or a pressing social/domestic engagement.
Cheers,
Derek.
Good morning Peter
As Derek says, Saturday morning is typical cross country riding for this area.
The regular bunch of riders are very friendly and welcoming so if I were you, I'd get stuck in on a Saturday morning and see how it goes.
