Hi
Myself and my 'other half' have recently moved to Ashbourne and are looking for an active mountain bike club locally. I get the impression this is more of a road bike club with the occassional mountain bike ride or have I got it all wrong and you do you do lots of mtb?
If you do have many mtb rides, are they mainly off road, single track etc or is it mostly road riding and forest roads?
We're looking forward to some good winter riding round the peaks, so I'd love to hear from you if.
Thanks
Lucy
ps I've seen the section on your saturday rides, however, I wondered if you do a variety of routes and as above, how much off road riding there would be? We also like to night ride (only way to keep riding this time of year!). Are the night rides off road? (Thanks again)
Hi Lucy - I'm sure someone else will post on here who's more regular with the MTB guys, but they go out every Saturday 930am from Stanley Fearn in Matlock.
They normally fit in loads of great 'cheeky' paths, and some bridleways.
We've got masses of great riding and these are the guys to show it to you.
Also - check out Dark and White events - they have 3 hr events around us where you get to explore loads of Bridleways, so another great way of exploring.
They meet every week, but ocassionally they go further afield (7 Stanes, Cannock for eg)

Night rides on Tuesday are road (though I've been known to unintentionally stray off the tarmac) from Crown Square at 7am, (apart from last winter when it snowed and we were forced off-road). The road ride is typically 30 'ish hilly miles depending upon weather. If there is the demand, two groups (faster and slower) are formed.
Monday MTB night ride is off-road as well. The Saturday ride is one group rather than being split and it's a different route every week (if that's what you meant).
The club has a very active MTB/Cross side, it's just not as well advertised and is a bit more informal than the road.
