Long Hilly No.2 - 22.05.08
On Thursday evening the attendance improved slightly on the previous week with 15 riders primed for action in which Chris Green dominated to win by almost a minute over cyclo-cross rider Leigh Fearn. Chris went 7 seconds quicker than the week before to record a season best 28-35 and also catch his 2 minute man Paul Hodgkinson on the line. Leigh Fearn did a fantastic ride to finish in 29-31 and go 1 minute 21 seconds quicker than the week before despite only having a 46 tooth front chainring.
In third place and the only other rider to get under the 30 minute barrier was Steve Strange who finished in 29-49 which was also a new personal best. Only 8 seconds separated the next three riders with Richard Cordin the fastest in 30-28 with Jonathon Edwards and Paul Hodgkinson at 5 and 8 seconds respectively.
Off roader Annie Last made a surprise appearance on her MTB kitted out with road tyres and rode the time-trial mainly for training. The 17 year old recorded 34-54 for her efforts. The most unfortunate rider on the night was Daniel Brogan-France who not only missed his starting slot and had a flying start but also went off course near Dethick and ended up the wrong side of Lea. For his troubles Dan recorded 42-41. Better luck next week!
