Long Hilly 15.05.08

The first long hilly of the season only attracted 12 riders due to the severity of the longer course which sees the riders complete an extra three mile loop near Dethick. Re-surfacing works on the Lea Bridge – Lea Road also meant that the riders had to negotiate loose gravel which prompted John White to DNS due to his narrow tyres.

Peter Colledge failed to turn up which meant Richard Cordin was the only real challenger to Chris Green’s continued dominance in the Thursday night hilly’s. Chris made it three wins in a row to record 28-42 with Richard Cordin second at 1-13. Steve Strange was almost a further minute back in 3rd place with 30-37.

In fourth spot Leigh Fearn rode a cracking time-trial on his cross bike and easily overcame the gravel sections to record 30-52 despite only having a 46 tooth front chainring. Daniel Brogan-France, Jan Forrester and youngster Patrick Smart were all riding the longer course for the first time with the trio finishing 9th, 11th and 12th respectively in 35-34; 37-07 and 43-29.
